On this day in history, April 23, 2005, the first ever YouTube video was uploaded on. The eighteen second video was entitled Me at the zoo, and shows YouTube co-founder Jawed Karim at the San Diego Zoo. The video wasn’t very long but it started an avalanche. By July 2006, more than 65,000 videos were being uploaded to YouTube on a daily basis. In November 2006, YouTube, LLC was bought by Google for $1.65 billion dollars and now operates as a subsidiary of Google.
