Harbin Ice Festival 2012
Harbin is the capital city of Heilongjiang Province in extreme north eastern China along the Russian border. During the long winter months in Harbin, temperatures fall to minus 22 degrees farenheit. The Harbin International Ice Festival is held every year and is one of the four largest ice festivals in the world. It starts in early January and lasts for over a month, weather permitting. The incredible fireworks and light displays along with the magnificent snow and ice sculptures draw people from all over the world to take part and visit the festival despite the frigid temperatures.
